POOL
SPIT!

Two things you should know before contacting
swimming pool contractors on your own.
1.The
swimming pool industry
has resisted any type of standardization since it's
beginning. Operating in the midst of a manufactured "Smoke
and Mirrors" atmosphere keeps the public from knowing the
facts about their pricing, reputation and health of their
respected companies.
The truth is, the swimming pool building world is very
small. For the most part,
contractors hire the same
handful of subcontractors to build their pools.
The increased cost of hiring reputable subcontractors
(real companies that have all
their insurances and licenses in place)
is the ONLY reason why some pool builders should be more
expensive than others. Herein lies the groundwork for a
vicious cycle of abuse that has left a whole lot of pool
buyers up the "Spit Creek" of "I got the best deal on my
pool!"
If you buy the "Cheap Price" (it might even be from the
biggest names in the business) you will most definitely hire
a cheap contractor, and you'll get a CHEAP POOL! And that
would be best case scenario. Most probably, you will get
ripped off along the way and end up with a money pit of a
pool. No warranties, no service and most certainly, no
RECOURSE!
2. Free
Estimates
from most pool contractors
that offer them
WILL NOT INCLUDE a
plan, a price breakdown or specification lists. Most likely
you won't get past the first qualifying phone call you
receive if you don't act like you're ready to buy a pool
TODAY! If you do manage to convince the sales pro that
you're "ripe for the picking," you can expect your "Free
Estimate" to be a full court press to get you to sign a
contract. If you indicate at any time that you're not going
to buy TODAY, you will find yourself in the dust of the
Salesperson's getaway. Maybe, just maybe, you'll be left
with a "Ballpark" figure scratched on a torn-off piece of
paper, only to satisfy the Free Estimate rules of truth in
advertising.
